Wetland on the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Lake Jandari is a lake located partly in Georgia and Azerbaijan. The lake consists of shallow, silted areas and deeper water. The water level in the lake fluctuates throughout the year, creating interesting foraging areas for migrating waterfowl such as ducks and wading birds. Many migratory birds are present during spring and autumn, and various bird species winter on the lake.
Species present in spring and autumn include: Squacco Heron, Wood Sandpiper, Pygmy Cormorant, Armenian Gull, Garganey, Rosy Starling, Curlew Sandpiper and Citrine Wagtail. In the reed collars you can find Great Reed Warbler and Little Bittern. The lake is home to a colony of Whiskered Tern and some pairs of Little Tern breed there. More rare species (for this country) that may be occasionally present are Dalmatian Pelican, Moustached Warbler and Grey-headed Swamphen. Winter is good for several species of ducks.
Lake Jandari is located on the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan. From the Georgian side, the lake can be viewed from the north and east. On the eastern side, there's a jetty from which part of the lake is visible. Depending on the water level, the lake is more accessible. It's advisable to visit several spots around the lake to view the mudflats and reed beds. The lake is easily accessible by car from Gardabani. Press P on the map for directions.
