A route along the Po River with a marsh forest. Large parts of the area are closed off to protect wildlife.
Parco Comunale Bosco del Gerbasso is located within a large meander of the Po. A nice example of ecological restoration. They are aiming to recreate the ancient floodplain forest that once covered the Po Valley. On one side a sand extraction site, on the other side a beautiful nature reserve. Among the birds you can encounter are European Bee-eater, European Turtle Dove, Little Bittern, Common Sandpiper, Marsh Warbler, Melodious Warbler, Spotted Flycatcher, Little Egret, Little Grebe, Black-necked Grebe and Golden Oriole.
Parco Comunale Bosco del Gerbasso is located near Carmagnola. The area is indicated by signs, parking is available next to the entrance to the sand extraction site. Press P on the map for directions to the parking spot.
