Description

Kamionka Bolko in Opole is a post-industrial lake surrounded by wooded banks. The lake was formed in 1997 when the former quarry was flooded during a massive flood on the Oder River. Since then, it’s been transformed into one of the city’s recreational spots en the south side of the lake has a beach. Certain parts of the lake are designated bird sanctuaries. These areas are off-limits to swimmers and boats to protect nesting sites, especially during breeding season. Also some beaver habitats are protected. The lake is good for wintering ducks, gulls and divers like Гоголь, Красноголовый нырок, Хохлатая чернеть, Турпан, Синьга, Морянка, Краснозобая гагара, Чернозобая гагара, Чомга and Большой баклан.
